Clay Ganesha Workshop- September 13th 2023 !
Sreenidhi believes in sustainability as meeting our own needs without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. We provide our students with enriching experiences that enhance their academic learning, nurture their creativity and cultural understanding while focusing on sustaining the environment. One such learning event was the “Clay Ganesha Workshop” on 13th September for our primary school grades.
Sustainable practices in Sreenidhi
Workshop Overview
This one-day event aimed to introduce our young learners to the rich culture and traditions of India, specifically focusing on the significance of Lord Ganesha. Ganesha, the elephant-headed deity, holds a special place as the remover of obstacles and the symbol of wisdom. The workshop was thoughtfully organized to not only educate but also engage our primary students in hands-on learning.
Creative Expression
Armed with air-dry clay ,and using their own hands, our young artists eagerly plunged into the world of sculpting. Under the guidance of skilled art instructor Mr.Jayprakash, they discovered the joy of shaping their own Ganesha idols. This hands- on activity encouraged creativity and fine motor skill development.
Symbolism
As they moulded their clay Ganesha figures, students grasped the symbolic meanings behind the various elements of Lord Ganesha’s form. They learned about the elephant head, the broken tusk, the snake, and the bowl of sweets, each representing different virtues and teachings.

Team Work And Collaboration
The workshop was an opportunity for our young learners to collaborate with their peers. They shared ideas, offered assistance, and celebrated each other’s creations, fostering a sense of teamwork and camaraderie.
Artistic Expression: After sculpting, students explored the artistic aspect by personalizing their creations, adding unique patterns.
Cultural Awareness
Throughout the workshop, students engaged in discussions about cultural diversity and the importance of respecting and appreciating traditions different from their own. This helped them develop a broader worldview and a more inclusive perspective.
Pride in their Creations
Each child proudly displayed their masterpiece, sharing their new found knowledge and creativity with their teachers and peers.
The Clay Ganesha Workshop was a resounding success, leaving a lasting impact on our primary students. Beyond the clay, they carried away a deeper appreciation for cultural diversity, a sense of accomplishment, and a heartwarming understanding of the importance of unity in diversity. This event exemplified our commitment to holistic education, nurturing not just the intellect but also the hearts and minds of our young learners. This project not only allowed students to express their creativity but also promoted sustainable practices by incorporating clay and organic seeds. It serves as a reminder of the importance of respecting nature and its cycles while celebrating the divine.
