Primary Years Programme
About the Programme
At Sreenidhi, the PYP offers an inquiry-based, transdisciplinary curriculum framework that builds conceptual understanding. It is a student-centered approach to education for children aged 3-11. It reflects the best of educational research, thought leadership and experience derived from IB World Schools.
The central principle of agency is underpinned on the three pillars of school life –
- The Learner
- Learning and Teaching
- The Learning Community
- Curriculum Framework
The framework recognizes the value and importance of self-efficacy in students, which encourages them to actively participate in the learning process and take informed actions. Learners strengthen their knowledge and skills across, beyond, and between subject areas, which is guided by the six transdisciplinary themes of global significance-
Who We Are
Where We Are in Place and Time
How We Express Ourselves
How the World Works
How We Organize Ourselves
Sharing the Planet
○ The programme offers a balance between learning about or through the subject areas and learning beyond them.
○ The six themes create a transdisciplinary framework that allows students to “step up” beyond the confines of learning within subject areas.
○ Teachers are guided by these six transdisciplinary themes as they design units of inquiry that both transcend and articulate conventional subject boundaries.
○ These inquiries are substantial, in-depth and usually last for 4-5 weeks (each inquiry).
○ Each theme is addressed each year by all students. (Students aged 3 to 5 engage with four of the themes each year.)
In addition, all students have the opportunity to learn more than one language from the age of five.

At Sreenidhi students are allowed and encouraged to use their mother tongue to access the curriculum.
